Is Your Home A Mosquito Sanctuary?
Hey there! We certainly don’t intend to welcome mosquitoes into our lives, but there are simple ways to keep them from establishing residence around our homes. Forcing this out is best now, before the nice spring and summer weather comes!
If you have any standing water on your property, that’s five-star accommodations for mosquitoes. And who wants that? While they may add some puzzle to our beautiful summer night, they also have a tendency to carry disease, leaving in our midst of aches and itches that we all hate!
So, how do you keep those pesky mosquitoes away? Here are some simple tips:
Tip over any vessels in your yard including trash cans, gutters, buckets, toys or flower pots that could collect rainwater.
Remove items that can collect water like old tyres, bottles, cans, pots, broken appliances or drums.
Use covered water dishes for your pets. If not, simply make sure that you’re replenishing their water each day to keep it from getting stagnant.
Change the water in your birdbath every week.
Cover cars and boats with tarps so they don’t hold rainwater.
Maintain your swimming pool (and empty kids’ wading pools when they’re not being used) and keep it covered when not in use.
Those simple steps can really help limit mosquito breeding sites around your home. And while we know we can’t get rid of mosquitoes altogether (it’s part of living in Australia after all) the more of us who help out, the fewer pesky mosquitoes will be buzzing around!
And whilst you’re enjoying the outdoors, make sure to Apply some insect repellent such as Rid, Aeroguard or Off to keep those little pests away.
